Regular Season Round 37: Aishin SH - Tsukuba R. 89-82

NBL top team - Aishin Sea Horses (31-5) added another victory to their record. This time they beat seventh ranked Tsukuba R. (3-34) in Kariya 89-82. Tsukuba R. was ahead by 6 points after three quarters before a 32-19 charge of Aishin Sea Horses, which allowed them to win the game. They made 27-of-35 charity shots (77.1 percent) during the game, while Tsukuba R. only scored eight points from the stripe. Aishin Sea Horses brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. 28 personal fouls committed by Tsukuba R. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) who helped to win the game recording 31 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. International swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) contributed with 23 points for the winners. American forward Duke Crews (203-88, college: Bowie St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds and the other American import power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) added 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Tsukuba R.Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Aishin Sea Horses. They maintain first place with 31-5 record. Tsukuba R. lost their seventh game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 34 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses' next round opponent will be again Tsukuba R. (#7) at home which should be theoretically an easy game.
