Second Stage Round 1: Aalstar - Oostende 76-79

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Okapi Aalstar (12-9) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by Oostende (18-3) 79-76. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Oostende dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Okapi Aalstar's 30. They outrebounded Okapi Aalstar 38-22 including 28 on the defensive glass. International center Khalid Boukichou (208-92, agency: Beo Basket) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and Serbian guard Dusan Djordjevic (193-83, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 12 points. Four Oostende players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Rotnei Clarke (183-89, college: Butler) responded with 14 points and Samoan-American power forward John Tofi (203-84, college: UTEP) scored 15 points. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Oostende are looking forward to face Limburg United (#4) at home in the next round. Okapi Aalstar will play against Belfius Mons-Hainaut in Quaregnon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
