Fontedoso Carrefour (12-10) survived in overtime against Marin (12-9) by seven points 79-72 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Marin. Marin was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 10-point lead after three quarters before a 21-11 charge of Fontedoso Carrefour, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 14-7. Fontedoso Carrefour outrebounded Marin 46-23 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American-Jamaican center Dane Johnson (208-86, college: Hofstra) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 21 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Guard Juan Ballesta (181-92) helped adding 9 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Fontedoso Carrefour's coach David Mangas used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Jamaican-American guard Garfield Blair (196-87, college: Stetson) responded with 25 points and American guard Gabe Rogers (188-90, college: N.Arizona) scored 18 points. Fontedoso Carrefour moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Cambados. Loser Marin dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost. They share it with Zornotza. Fontedoso Carrefour will meet Canarias (#11) in the next round. Marin will play against FC Barcelona II (#10) and hope to secure a win.
