There was no surprise in Las Palmas where 14th ranked Campus Promete (5-16) was crushed by eleventh ranked Gran Canaria (7-14) 89-67. American guard Robyn Parks (183-92, college: VCU) nailed 25 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side and forward Vega Gimeno (185-91, college: Robert Morris, agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 24 points. Five Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Gran Canaria's coach Fermin Bosa felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Leslie Knight (184-86) came up with 11 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import center Devereaux Peters (187-89, college: Notre Dame) added 7 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Campus Promete in the defeat. Gran Canaria moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Ferrol. Newly promoted Campus Promete dropped to the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Gran Canaria's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Mann Filter (#14) in Zaragoza. Campus Promete will play on the road against the league's second-placed Argon Uni Girona where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
