Date: March 8, 2015
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Stal Ostrow (17-6) beat 10th ranked Astoria Bydg. (8-15) in Bydgoszcz 89-73. It looked good early as Astoria Bydg. took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Stal Ostrow had a 24-18 second period charge getting the lead and Astoria Bydg. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 73-89. Stal Ostrow forced 21 Astoria Bydg. turnovers. 27 personal fouls committed by Astoria Bydg. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was point guard Tomasz Ochonko (183-86) who scored 25 points and 4 assists. Power forward Tomasz Andrzejewski (204-79) chipped in 16 points. Four Stal Ostrow players scored in double figures. Dorian Szyttenholm (193-83, agency: Promotex) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and Tomasz Prostak (188-88) added 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Stal Ostrow moved-up to second place, which they share with Sokol Lancut. Astoria Bydg. at the other side keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. Stal Ostrow's next round opponent will be Rosa II Radom (#8) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Astoria Bydg. will play against Pogon Prudnik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
