Regular Season Round 42: Akita NH - Yokohama BC 94-88

Very expected game when 10th ranked Yokohama BC (10-28) lost on the road to second ranked Akita Happinets (32-8) 94-88 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Yokohama BC won third quarter 24-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Yokohama BC was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) who led his team to a victory with 29 points. American forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward Carl Hall (201-89, college: Wichita St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Warren Niles (196-89, college: ORU, agency: KMG Sports Management) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Yokohama BC. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Akita Happinets have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 32-8 record behind leader Kyoto Hannar., which they share with Hamamatsu P. Yokohama BC at the other side keeps the tenth place with 28 games lost. Akita Happinets will face Tokyo Cinq R. (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Yokohama BC will play against Niigata Albirex and hope to win that game.
