Regular Season Round 38: Hyogo S. - Toshiba BT 70-79

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Hyogo. Third ranked Toshiba Thunders faced one of their biggest challengers Hyogo S.. Guests from Kanagawa (28-10) defeated host Hyogo S. (14-22) 79-70. It looked good early as Hyogo S. took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Toshiba Thunders had a 22-18 second period charge getting the lead and Hyogo S. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-79. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 19 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Yuma Fujii (-91) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Toshiba Thunders' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds and guard Tadahiro Yanagawa (183-86) added 17 points in the effort for Hyogo S.Toshiba Thunders have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains third position with 28-10 record having three points less than leader Hitachi SR. Hyogo S. lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 22 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Hyogo S. will play on the road against Toyota Alvark (#4) in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
