Regular Season Round 17: Oviedo - ADBA 61-70

The game between closely ranked teams ended with ninth ranked ADBA's (6-11) road victory over 10th ranked Oviedo (2-15) 70-61 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-8. But Oviedo won second period 13-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was power forward Lara Fernandez (179-87) who had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 17 rebounds and 8 assists. American-Nigerian swingman Anma Onyeuku (181-91, college: Hofstra) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds. ADBA's coach Yolanda Mijares used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Marina Vilella (185-92) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 15 rebounds and guard Eva Oliva (176-92) added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ADBA maintains ninth place with 6-11 record. Oviedo lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 15 games lost. ADBA will face higher ranked Cortegada (#3) in Vilagarcia Arousa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Oviedo will play on the road against Universidad de Valladolid (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
