Leader Hitachi Sunrockers recorded the 32th victory on Sunday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked Wakayama T. (4-33) 95-69. The game was mostly controlled by Hitachi Sunrockers. Wakayama T. was better in third quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hitachi Sunrockers made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) who scored 19 points and 6 rebounds. Coach Michael Olson's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and guard Kazutaka Takashima (191-84) added 20 points respectively for the hosts. Hitachi Sunrockers (32-7) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position. Wakayama T. lost twentieth consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 33 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face Kumamoto V. (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Wakayama T. will play against Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
