Regular Season Round 42: Niigata Albirex - Gunma 101-73

Rather predictable result when fifth ranked Niigata Albirex (26-14) rolled over at home 8th ranked Gunma (15-23) 101-73 on Sunday. The game without a history. Niigata Albirex led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Gunma's 38. They outrebounded Gunma 36-21 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Niigata Albirex looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for center Patrick Sullivan (206-88, college: SE Louisiana, agency: Two Points) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Guard Russell Carter (196-85, college: Notre Dame) contributed with 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Five Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. Power forward Daniel Northern (206-85, college: Tenn Tech, agency: R.H.Consultancy) replied with 13 points and 6 rebounds and forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Gunma. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Niigata Albirex have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Sendai 89ers. Gunma at the other side keeps the eighth position with 23 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face Yokohama BC (#10) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Gunma will play against Sendai 89ers and hope to win that game.
