Regular Season Round 22: Keflavik - Snaefell 95-83

Date: March 9, 2015
Not a big story in a game when 9th ranked Snaefell (9-13) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Keflavik (11-11) 95-83. The game was mostly controlled by Keflavik. Snaefell was better in second period 32-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Keflavik dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Snaefell's 34. Keflavik forced 20 Snaefell turnovers. Strangely Snaefell outrebounded Keflavik 50-37 including 18 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Naturalized American forward Damon Johnson (196-74, college: Tennessee) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) to lead the effort and American guard Davon Usher (198-92, college: Delaware) supported him with 21 points and 5 rebounds. Keflavik's coach Helgi Jonas Gudfinnsson used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even a double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds by American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) did not help to save the game for Snaefell. The former international forward Sigurdur Thorvaldsson (201-80) added 19 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Four Snaefell players scored in double figures. Keflavik have a solid three-game winning streak. Despite that victory Keflavik went down to sixth position due to points difference, which they share with Grindavik and Thor Thorl. Snaefell lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 13 games lost.
