Regular Season Round 22: Skallagrimur - Tindastoll 91-101

No shocking result in a game in Borgarnes where second ranked Tindastoll (17-5) defeated bottom-ranked Skallagrimur (4-18) 101-91. The game was mostly controlled by Tindastoll. Skallagrimur was better in second period 29-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Tindastoll dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Skallagrimur's 46. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Swingman Helgi Viggosson (189-83) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and naturalized American forward Darrell Flake (193-80, college: McKendree) supported him with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Five Tindastoll players scored in double figures. Even 30 points and 8 rebounds by the former international swingman Pall Axel Vilbergsson (197-78) did not help to save the game for Skallagrimur. The former international guard Magnus Gunnarsson (186-81) added 19 points for lost side. Tindastoll have a solid three-game winning streak. Newly promoted Tindastoll maintains second position with 17-5 record having just three points less than leader KR. Skallagrimur lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 18 games lost.
