Regular Season Round 22: Thor Thorl - Njardvik 89-84

The most important game in the last round took place in Thorlakshofn between third ranked Njardvik (13-9) and eighth ranked Thor Thorl (11-11) on Thursday night. Njardvik was defeated by Thor Thorl in a tough game on the road 84-89. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Njardvik. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 30-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Thor Thorl made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Njardvik turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Tomas Tomasson (193-91, college: Newberry) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American point guard Darrin Govens (185-88, college: St.Joseph's) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 8 rebounds and 12 assists. American point guard Stefan Bonneau (177-87, college: LIU Post) produced 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and the former international Logi Gunnarsson (190-81) added 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Five Thor Thorl and four Njardvik players scored in double figures. Njardvik's coach Fridrik Ingi Runarsson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Thor Thorl moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Grindavik and Keflavik. Njardvik at the other side keeps the third position with nine games lost. They share it with Haukar.
