Regular Season Round 20: FSU - IA 81-83

Date: March 12, 2015
The most exciting game of round 20 in the D1 took place in Selfoss. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers FSU (12-7) to fifth ranked IA (11-7) 83-81 on Thursday evening. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-81. IA dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to FSU's 34. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Fannar Helgason (202-84) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and American point guard Jamarco Warren (180-88, college: Charleston So.) who added 28 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Warren is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four IA players scored in double figures. point guard Ari Gylfason (186-89) responded with 25 points and American forward Collin Pryor (198, college: Northern St., agency: Mansfield and Associates) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. FSU's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. IA moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Valur. FSU at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. IA is looking forward to face league's leader Hottur in Egilsstadir in the next round and it may be the game of the week. FSU will play on the road against Thor AK in Akureyri and is hoping to win this game.
