Regular Season Round 24: Le Portel - Charleville 99-75

Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Le Portel (13-11) outleveled at home 15th ranked Charleville-Mezieres (8-16) 99-75 on Friday. The game without a history. Le Portel led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Charleville-Mezieres' 32. Le Portel looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Charleville-Mezieres' players. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Gary Chathuant (192-83) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 7 rebounds and American center Jakim Donaldson (203-83, college: Edinboro) who added 10 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists during the contest. Five Le Portel players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Kevin Thalien (190-92) with 22 points and 4 assists and American-British point guard Akeem Williams (178-91, college: Mass.-Lowell, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Le Portel maintains eighth position with 13-11 record, which they share with Nantes. Charleville-Mezieres lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fifteenth place with 16 games lost. Le Portel will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
