Regular Season Round 24: Pogon Prudnik - Astoria Bydg. 90-62

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Pogon Prudnik and 10th ranked Astoria Bydg. had identical 8-15 record. This time Pogon Prudnik used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Bydgoszcz 90-62 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-62. Pogon Prudnik forced 19 Astoria Bydg. turnovers. Astoria Bydg. was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of center Tomasz Nowakowski (207-90) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 5 rebounds and Artur Grygiel (188-88) who added 15 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Pogon Prudnik players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Dorian Szyttenholm (193-83, agency: Promotex) with 8 points and 8 rebounds and Tomasz Prostak (188-88) scored 12 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Pogon Prudnik (9-15) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with GKS Tychy. Loser Astoria Bydg. dropped to the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Pogon Prudnik will face higher ranked Rosa II Radom (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Astoria Bydg. will play against Legia (#4) and hope to win that game.
