Regular Season Round 39: Hokkaido L. - Mitsubishi DD 74-83

No shocking result in a game when second ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (24-14) beat 6th ranked Hokkaido L. (14-27) in Saporro 83-74 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 9 points. Mitsubishi Dolphins dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Hokkaido L.'s 34. It was a good game for Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) who led his team to a victory with 36 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (on 14-of-18 shooting from the field). The former international power forward Shunsuke Ito (204-79) contributed with 15 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winners. American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: KMG Sports Management) answered with 21 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Masaharu Kataoka (190-85) added 14 points in the effort for Hokkaido L.Hokkaido L.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mitsubishi Dolphins maintains second place with 24-14 record having ten points less than leader Hitachi SR. Loser Hokkaido L. keeps the sixth position with 27 games lost. Mitsubishi Dolphins will face Toshiba Thunders (#3) in Kanagawa in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Hokkaido L. will play on the road against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya and hope to win that game.
