Regular Season Round 43: Shimane SM - Oita H.Devils 74-69

The game in Shimane was also quite interesting. 6th ranked Oita Heat Devils (15-26) played at the court of seventh ranked Shimane Magic (15-26). Shimane Magic managed to secure a 5-point victory 74-69 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Oita Heat Devils won third quarter 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Shimane Magic won last quarter 24-21. Strangely Oita Heat Devils outrebounded Shimane Magic 39-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. Oita Heat Devils were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. It was a great evening for guard Joe Chapman (193-84, college: Marquette, agency: I.D.S. Law) who led his team to a victory scoring 30 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) helped adding 10 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side center Todd O'Brien (213-89, college: UAB) responded with 9 points and 17 rebounds and guard Drew Barham (198-89, college: Gonzaga) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Shimane Magic moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Oita H.Devils. Shimane Magic will face again Oita Heat Devils (#7) at home in the next round.
