Regular Season Round 43: Saitama Bron. - Fukushima 80-97

There was no surprise when 12th ranked Saitama Broncos (4-35) were defeated at home by ninth ranked Fukushima (13-28) 97-80 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 97-80. Fukushima shot 62.1 percent from the field. It was a great evening for American center James Hughes (211-83, college: N.Illinois, agency: I.D.S. Law) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field). His fellow American import power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) helped adding 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side American forward Gary Johnson (198-91, college: Albany) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and guard Janya Masumoto (183-88) scored 21 points and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Five Fukushima and four Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Fukushima maintains ninth place with 13-28 record. Saitama Broncos lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 35 games lost. Fukushima will have a break next round. Saitama Broncos will play again at home against Fukushima (#9) and hope to win that game.
