Regular Season Round 39: Hitachi SR - Kumamoto V. 90-56

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (34-7) outplayed 6th ranked Kumamoto V. (4-35) in Tokyo 90-56 on Saturday. The game without a history. Hitachi Sunrockers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Hitachi Sunrockers outrebounded Kumamoto V. 49-30 including a 35-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for international power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Qatari-American guard Trey Johnson (196-84, college: Jackson St.) contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. Hitachi Sunrockers' coach Michael Olson felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Power forward Ryota Nakanishi (199-88) answered with 14 points and 8 rebounds and forward Tenyoku Yo (194-88) added 14 points in the effort for Kumamoto V.The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Hitachi Sunrockers. They maintain first place with 34-7 record. Kumamoto V. lost their eleventh game in a row. They dropped to the fifth position with 35 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face Hyogo S. (#4) on the road in the next round. Kumamoto V. will play against Chiba Jets and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
