Regular Season Round 39: Chiba Jets - Wakayama T. 101-72

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Wakayama T. (4-35) was outleveled on the road by fifth ranked Chiba Jets (25-15) 101-72 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Chiba Jets. Wakayama T. was better in fourth quarter 29-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). His fellow American import forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Chiba Jets' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Forward Daiki Terashita (190-80) answered with 22 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Keishiro Tsutsumi (182-86) added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Wakayama T.The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Chiba Jets. They maintain fifth place with 25-15 record which they share with defeated Wakayama T. Wakayama T. lost their twenty second game in a row. They keep the fifth position with 35 games lost. Chiba Jets will face Kumamoto V. (#6) on the road in the next round. Wakayama T. will play against Tsukuba R. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
