Regular Season Round 22: Mann Filter - Gran Canaria 97-46

Bottom-ranked Mann Filter managed to get a sixth victory, breaking the four-game losing streak. This time they outleveled tenth-ranked Gran Canaria in Zaragoza 97-46. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 51-point difference proves that Mann Filter was well-prepared to that game. The game without a history. Mann Filter led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Gran Canaria's 40. Mann Filter forced 20 Gran Canaria turnovers and outrebounded them 35-17 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American guard Yvonne Turner (174-87, college: Nebraska) scored 25 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Latvian center Kristine Vitola (193-91, college: UTEP) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Five Mann Filter players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Robyn Parks (183-92, college: VCU) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and her fellow American import forward Samarie Walker (185, college: Kentucky) scored 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mann Filter (6-16) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Al-Qazeres. Gran Canaria at the other side keeps the tenth position with 15 games lost. They share it with Ferrol. Mann Filter will play against higher ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (#9) in San Sebastian in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Gran Canaria will play at home against the league's second-placed Argon Uni Girona having rather not much hope for a victory.
