Regular Season Round 39: Tochigi Brex - Aishin SH 73-88

Date: March 15, 2015
An interesting game for Aishin Sea Horses (33-6) which played road game in Tochigi against second-best Tochigi Brex (30-10). First ranked Aishin Sea Horses had an easy win 88-73. It ended at the same time the 12-game winning streak of Tochigi Brex. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-73. It was an exceptional evening for the former international guard Makoto Hiejima (190-90) who led the winners and scored 25 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) accounted for 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. American power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and the former international swingman Takatoshi Furukawa (190-87, agency: APAA Sports Group) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for Tochigi Brex in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Aishin Sea Horses maintains first place with 33-6 record. Loser Tochigi Brex keeps the second position with ten games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will meet at home Hokkaido L. (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Tochigi Brex will play against Dragonflies (#3) in Hiroshima and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
