Regular Season Round 27: Snaefell - Haukar 67-74

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Snaefell (22-3) in Stykkisholmur on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by fourth ranked Haukar (15-9) 74-67. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back getting tie in the second period and winning the second half and won the game by 7 points. It was a great evening for American swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 23 rebounds and 6 assists. Sylvia Run Halfdanardottir (-98) helped adding 5 points and 9 rebounds. Haukar's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American swingman Kristen McCarthy (182-90, college: Temple) with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Hildur Sigurdardottir (178-81) scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Haukar have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 15-9 record. Defending champion Snaefell still keeps top position with three games lost. Haukar are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Breidablik (#8) in the next round. Snaefell will play against Grindavik (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
