Rather predictable result when ninth ranked Fukushima (14-28) beat on the road 12th ranked Saitama Broncos (4-36) 91-77 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 53-38 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Fukushima forced 19 Saitama Broncos turnovers. Strangely Saitama Broncos outrebounded Fukushima 38-26 including 23 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was point guard Masaya Karimata (178-88) who scored 23 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. American power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. Vincentian power forward Nyika Williams (203-87, college: Pacific) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and American forward Gary Johnson (198-91, college: Albany) added 18 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Newly promoted Fukushima maintains ninth position with 14-28 record. Saitama Broncos lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the twelfth place with 36 games lost. Fukushima will face higher ranked Gunma (#8) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Saitama Broncos will play against Aomori Watts (#6) and hope to win that game.
