Regular Season Round 24: Real Madrid - Sevilla 87-81

There was no surprise when 16th ranked Sevilla (6-18) was defeated on the road by second ranked Real Madrid (20-4) 87-81 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Sevilla trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 18 after three quarters before a 32-20 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 81-87 at the end of the game. Real Madrid made 29-of-35 free shots (82.9 percent) during the game, while Sevilla only scored seven points from the stripe. Real Madrid forced 19 Sevilla turnovers. Sevilla was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international Felipe Reyes (205-80) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. International Rudy Fernandez (197-85) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. Four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Latvian power forward Kristaps Porzingis (215-95) who recorded 17 points and 8 rebounds and Czech center Ondrej Balvin (217-92) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Madrid have an impressive ten-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Unicaja. Sevilla lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with 18 games lost. Real Madrid will face UCAM Murcia (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sevilla will play against Asefa Estudiantes (#13) and hope to win that game.
