Very significant was Cathay Life's (#1, 7-0) victory against their biggest opponent Chunghwa Telecom (3-4) 91-60. The game was mostly controlled by Cathay Life. Chunghwa Telecom was better in second period 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cathay Life dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Chunghwa Telecom's 42. Cathay Life forced 26 Chunghwa Telecom turnovers and outrebounded them 40-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Ping-Chen Huang (178-89) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Fan-Shan Huang (174-87) accounted for 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Four Cathay Life players scored in double figures. Cathay Life's coach Ling Yao Hung felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Shu-Ching Yang (170-88) came up with 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Shin-Hui Yang (175-89) added 7 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Chunghwa Telecom in the defeat. Cathay Life (7-0) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 7 victories in a row. Chunghwa Telecom at the other side keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with Taiyuan T.. Cathay Life will play against league's second-placed Taiyuan Textile in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Chunghwa Telecom will play against Taipower and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
