Regular Season Round 8: Chunghua T. - Taipower 75-89

The most important game in the last round was the one between third ranked Chunghwa Telecom (3-5) and fourth ranked Taipower (2-6) on Tuesday night. Chunghwa Telecom was defeated by Taipower 89-75. The game was mostly controlled by Taipower. Chunghwa Telecom managed to win third quarter 26-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Taipower dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Chunghwa Telecom's 44. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Shih-Chieh Chang (172-86) who scored 22 points. The former international center Yi-Chun Liu (186-86) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Four Taipower players scored in double figures. Taipower's coach Wei-Juan Qian used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Jia-Wei Liu (175-88) produced 15 points and 4 assists and guard Shu-Ching Yang (170-88) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectivelyfor Taipower. Taipower maintains fourth position with 2-6 record. Chunghwa Telecom at the other side dropped to the second place with five games lost. They share the position with Taiyuan T.. Taipower are looking forward to face league's leader Cathay Life in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Chunghwa Telecom will play against the league's second-placed Taiyuan Textile and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
