There was an upset when higher ranked Gernika (12-11) was edged at home by eleventh ranked Universitario de Ferrol (8-15) 83-82 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 24-15 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for forward Haley Peters (190-92, college: Duke) who led her team to a victory scoring 19 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Denesha Stallworth (190-92, college: Kentucky, agency: LBM Management) helped adding 20 points and 8 rebounds. Four Universitario de Ferrol players scored in double figures. Center Britany Miller (193-87, college: Florida St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds and Bernice Mosby (186-84, college: Baylor, agency: Josep and Nicolas) scored 18 points. Gernika's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Universitario de Ferrol moved-up to tenth place. Gernika lost fourth consecutive game. Gernika at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth position with 11 games lost. Universitario de Ferrol will face higher ranked Conquero (#3) in Huelva in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
