Regular Season Round 19: Guaiqueries - Toros 89-78

The game with biggest result difference took place in Porlamar. Local Guaiqueries (7-6) beat 8th ranked Toros (4-9) 89-78 on Wednesday night. The game was mostly controlled by Guaiqueries. Toros managed to win third quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Toros 41-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. American center Dwayne Jones (211-83, college: St.Joseph's) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) for the winners. Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. Four Guaiqueries players scored in double figures. American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) produced 24 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import power forward Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guaiqueries maintains sixth place with 7-6 record. Toros at the other side keep the eighth position with nine games lost. Guaiqueries are again looking forward to face Toros (#8) in Maracay in the next round. Toros will have a break next round.
