Regular Season Round 27: Limeira - Minas 66-62

There was no surprise when 5th ranked Minas (17-10) was defeated on the road by second ranked Winner/Limeira (23-4) 66-62. The hosts were ahead by 2 points but lost the second period ending it with a 4-point deficit before their 20-12 run, which allowed them to win the game. Winner/Limeira made 19-of-21 charity shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They also forced 20 Minas turnovers. It was a good game for Dominican-American guard Ronald Ramon (183-86, college: Pittsburgh) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 5 rebounds. American guard David Jackson (195-82, college: Penn St.) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Center Ralfi Ansaloni (211-87) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and the former international power forward Shilton Santos (198-82) added 7 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Minas. Minas' coach Demetrius Ferraciu rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Winner/Limeira have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 23-4 record having just -2 point less than leader Bauru. Minas at the other side keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Winner/Limeira will play against Unitri (#13) in Uberlandia in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Minas will play on the road against Rio Claro (#16) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
