There was a minor upset in San Sebastian where 9th ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (9-14) was defeated by twelfth ranked Mann Filter (7-16) 51-39 on Wednesday. The game without a history. Mann Filter led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great evening for Latvian center Kristine Vitola (193-91, college: UTEP) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks. American guard Yvonne Turner (174-87, college: Nebraska) helped adding 8 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Iulene Olabarria (178-85) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Mann Filter moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Gran Canaria. Loser Gipuzkoa UPV dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. Mann Filter will face higher ranked Zamarat (#8) in Zamora in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
