Alba Iulia cruised to the opening win in the quarterfinals. The game without a history. Alba Iulia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alexandria to just 7 points in third quarter. Alba Iulia dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Alexandria's 26. Alba Iulia had a 30-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Valencia McFarland (163-91, college: Mississippi) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals. Forward Jessica Kuster (188-92, college: Rice) contributed with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Guard Adrienne Webb (175-90, college: LSU) answered with 13 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Shanita Arnold (165-89, college: Arizona, agency: Gamble Sports Management) added 9 points in the effort for Alexandria. Alexandria's coach Madalin Piperea gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win.
