Regular Season Round 20: Guaiqueries - Toros 84-82

Eighth-ranked Toros (4-10) were very close to win a game against sixth ranked Guaiqueries (8-6) in Porlamar on Thursday. Guaiqueries managed to secure only two-point victory 84-82. However their fans expected easier game. 25 personal fouls committed by Toros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The former international center Richard Lugo (209-73, college: St.Francis, NY) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 9 rebounds. Puerto Rican guard Jezreel De Jesus (185-91) contributed with 17 points for the winners. Dominican guard Kelvin Pena (193-80, college: Southeastern CC) replied with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international center Alejandro Barrios (204-79) added 19 points in the effort for Toros. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Guaiqueries maintains sixth position with 8-6 record. Toros lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
