Regular Season Round 20: Guaros - Gaiteros 90-71

The game between fourth ranked Guaros (9-6) and 10th ranked Gaiteros (1-14) in Barquisimeto ended with biggest points difference. Guaros outscored guests from Maracaibo 90-71. It looked good early as Gaiteros took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Guaros had a 25-14 second period charge getting the lead and Gaiteros were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-90. Guaros players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Gaiteros' players. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international swingman Rafael Guevara (193-79) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and Dominican guard Luis Flores (188-81, college: Manhattan, agency: Duran International) who added 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Nigerian-American power forward Reggie Okosa (208-80, college: La Salle) responded with 14 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Robert McKiver (191-84, college: Houston) scored 12 points. Four Guaros and five Gaiteros players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guaros maintains fourth position with 9-6 record. Gaiteros at the other side stay at the bottom place with 14 games lost. Guaros will again play against bottom-ranked Gaiteros (#10) in Maracaibo in the next round where they are favorite. Gaiteros will have a break next round.
