Higher ranked Hapoel Afula (14-8) fell to ninth ranked Hasharon (10-13) in overtime by five points 98-103 on Thursday night. Hapoel Afula trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 26-15 run in the last quarter tied the game at the end of regular time, But then they lost eventually overtime period 11-16. Strangely Hapoel Afula outrebounded Hasharon 40-27 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American guard Jeremy Allen (193-88, college: FIU, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) notched 30 points to lead the effort and point guard Adi Cohen (178-93) supported him with 23 points and 5 assists. Allen is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 23 points and 9 rebounds by American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) did not help to save the game for Hapoel Afula. Naturalized American guard Stu Douglass (190-90, college: Michigan, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 23 points and 5 assists for lost side. Four Hasharon and five Hapoel Afula players scored in double figures. Hasharon maintains ninth position with 10-13 record. Loser Hapoel Afula keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Netanya. Hasharon will meet at home Ironi Ashkelon (#10) in the next round. Hapoel Afula will play against Ironi Ramat Gan (#7) and hope to secure a win.
