Regular Season Round 40: Wakayama T. - Tsukuba R. 85-83

Date: March 21, 2015
The most exciting game of round 40 in the NBL took place in Wakayama. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Tsukuba R. (4-38) to fifth ranked Wakayama T. (5-36) 85-83 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tsukuba R. won fourth quarter 35-27. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Wakayama T. shot 21 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Tsukuba R. only scored five points from the stripe. 26 personal fouls committed by Tsukuba R. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) who added 20 points and 5 assists during the contest. At the losing side American forward Duke Crews (203-88, college: Bowie St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and the former international forward Daisuke Noguchi (196-83) scored 18 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tsukuba R.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Wakayama T. maintains fifth position with 5-36 record. Tsukuba R. lost eleventh consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 38 games lost. Wakayama T. are looking forward to face Kumamoto V. (#6) at home in the next round. Tsukuba R. will play against Toyota Alvark and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
