Everything went according to plan when third ranked Flamengo (22-6) beat on the road 9th ranked Brasilia (12-17) 106-95 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Flamengo. Brasilia was better in second period 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Flamengo looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and international Vitor Benite (191-90) chipped in 28 points. International Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80, agency: Interperformances) responded with 24 points and 5 rebounds and center Ronald Reis (211-91) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks. Five Flamengo and four Brasilia players scored in double figures. The victory was the eleventh consecutive win for Flamengo. Defending champion maintains third place with 22-6 record having six points less than leader Bauru. Loser Brasilia dropped to the tenth position with 17 games lost. Flamengo will face league's second-placed Winner/Limeira at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Brasilia will play against Paulistano (#6) in Sao Paolo and hope to win that game.
