Regular Season Round 24: Gipuzkoa UPV - Gran Canaria 65-76

An interesting game took place in San Sebastian, where 9th ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (9-15) lost at home to twelfth ranked Gran Canaria (8-16) 65-76 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gran Canaria. Gipuzkoa UPV was better in fourth quarter 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American guard Robyn Parks (183-92, college: VCU) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import forward Samarie Walker (185, college: Kentucky) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Senegalese power forward Oumoul Sarr (185-84) who recorded 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Iulene Olabarria (178-85) added 8 points and 4 assists respectively. Gran Canaria moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Ferrol and Mann Filter. Loser Gipuzkoa UPV dropped to the eighth position with 15 games lost. Gran Canaria will face higher ranked Cadi La Seu (#4) in Seu D'urgell in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
