Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Arxil Pontevedra (14-5) defeated at home 6th ranked Real Celta Vigo (11-8) 52-44 on Saturday. The game without a history. Arxil Pontevedra led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Real Celta Vigo to just 7 points in first quarter. Arxil Pontevedra forced 23 Real Celta Vigo turnovers. It was a great evening for forward Maria Lago who led her team to a victory scoring 21 points and 6 steals. Center Ana Roman (192-82) helped adding 13 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the losing side Cristina Loureiro (183-94) responded with 14 points and guard Marta Canella (178-95) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Arxil Pontevedra moved-up to third place in Group A, which they share with Cortegada. Loser Real Celta Vigo keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Arxil Pontevedra will face league's leader GDKO Bizkaia in Galdakao in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Real Celta Vigo will play at home against ADBA (#9) and hope to win that game.
