Regular Season Round 24: Battipaglia - Cagliari CUS 78-73
Date: March 22, 2015
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Cagliari CUS (9-14) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Battipaglia (10-14) 78-73 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-18. But Cagliari CUS won second period 19-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Dutch Kourtney Treffers (187-94, agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 21 rebounds and American swingman Brooque Williams (175-89, college: California, PA, agency: Two Points) who added 23 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Battipaglia players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American guard Tricia Liston (185-92, college: Duke) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds. Battipaglia moved-up to eighth place. Cagliari CUS lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 14 games lost. Battipaglia will meet higher ranked Venezia (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cagliari CUS will play against Orvieto (#12) and hope to secure a win.
