The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifth ranked Chiba Jets' (27-15) road victory over 6th ranked Kumamoto V. (4-37) 80-71 on Sunday. Kumamoto V. was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 29-15 charge of Chiba Jets, which allowed them to win the game. They made 22-of-26 free shots (84.6 percent) during the game. Kumamoto V. was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) who added 18 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American center Josh Warren (206-88, college: Troy) responded with 8 points and 13 rebounds and Keita Takata scored 5 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Chiba Jets have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Kumamoto V. lost thirteenth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 37 games lost. Chiba Jets will face higher ranked Toshiba Thunders (#3) in Kanagawa in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Kumamoto V. will play on the road against Wakayama T. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
