Regular Season Round 19: Almeria - Segle XXI 46-63

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Segle XXI (9-10) won against on the road 12th ranked Almeria (3-16) 63-46 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 63-46. Segle XXI outrebounded Almeria 49-30 including 37 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for forward Paula Ginzo (187-98) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Center Laia Sole (184-98) helped adding 8 points and 7 rebounds. At the losing side American forward EeTisha Riddle (191-85, college: Missouri) responded with 11 points and 9 rebounds and guard Maria Hernandez (166-94) scored 9 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Segle XXI maintains seventh place in Group B with 9-10 record. Newly promoted Almeria keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Segle XXI will face higher ranked Leganes (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Almeria will play against UCAM Jairis (#10) in Alcantarilla and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
