Regular Season Round 46: Fukushima - Gunma 84-64

Date: March 22, 2015
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 8th ranked Gunma (15-27) was outscored on the road by ninth ranked Fukushima (16-28) 84-64 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Fukushima. Gunma was better in second period 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Fukushima had a 36-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. Quite impressive performance for power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Verdell Jones III (195-89, college: Indiana) contributed with 20 points and 8 assists for the winners. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures. Forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech) replied with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Daniel Northern (206-85, college: Tenn Tech, agency: R.H.Consultancy) added 12 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Gunma. Fukushima have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Oita H.Devils and Shimane SM. Gunma lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the ninth position with 27 games lost. Fukushima will face Yokohama BC (#10) on the road in the next round. Gunma will play against Saitama Broncos and hope to win that game.
