Regular Season Round 26: Scafati - Matera 80-76

Date: March 22, 2015
There was no surprise when 15th ranked Matera (7-19) was defeated on the road by tenth ranked Scafati (13-12) 80-76 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Matera was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 19-14 charge of Scafati, which allowed them to win the game. They made 21-of-22 free shots (95.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American forward Jeremy Simmons (204-89, college: Charleston, agency: Interperformances) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds. The other American import forward Christopher Evans (203-91, college: Kent St.) chipped in 26 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian swingman Franco Migliori (197-82) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and American center Jordan Richard (206-89, college: CS Los Angeles) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Matera players scored in double figures. Scafati moved-up to ninth place. Matera lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 19 games lost. Scafati will face higher ranked Treviglio (#4) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Matera will play against Reggio Calabr. (#5) and hope to win that game.
