Very expected game when 14th ranked Gipuzkoa (9-16) was smashed by eighth ranked Laboral Kutxa (14-11) in San Sebastian 95-66 on Sunday. The game without a history. Laboral Kutxa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 53.6 percentage. Quite impressive performance for the former international swingman Fernando San Emeterio (199-84) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. French Fabien Causeur (194-87) contributed with 13 points, 6 assists and 7 steals for the winners. Four Laboral Kutxa players scored in double figures. American point guard Jared Jordan (188-84, college: Marist) answered with 11 points and 8 assists and guard Jordi Grimau (196-83) added 9 points in the effort for Gipuzkoa. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Laboral Kutxa have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Valencia and CAI Zaragoza. Loser Gipuzkoa keeps the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Laboral Kutxa will face Valencia Basket (#6) at home in the next round. Gipuzkoa will play against Bilbao Basket (#3) and hope to win that game.
