Regular Season Round 46: Sendai 89ers - Yokohama BC 86-82
Date: March 22, 2015
Very expected game when 10th ranked Yokohama BC (11-31) lost on the road to fourth ranked Sendai 89ers (30-14) 86-82 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Yokohama BC trailed 48-47 at halftime, rallying from a 30-13 deficit at the end of first quarter to trim the gap. Sendai 89ers made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Sendai 89ers made 9 blocks. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for guard Kejuan Johnson (193-85, college: Long Beach St., agency: KMG Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Center Jeral Davis (216-84) contributed with 27 points, 5 rebounds and 8 blocks (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners. Davis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Sendai 89ers players scored in double figures. Guard Warren Niles (196-89, college: ORU, agency: KMG Sports Management) replied with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 19 rebounds and forward Carl Hall (201-89, college: Wichita St.) added 23 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Yokohama BC. Yokohama BC's coach Michael Katsuhisa gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sendai 89ers have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 30-14 record. Yokohama BC lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with 31 games lost. Sendai 89ers will face Tokyo Cinq R. (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Yokohama BC will play against Fukushima and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
