Regular Season Round 23: Maccabi Raanana - Elitzur Ashkelon 80-94
Date: March 24, 2015
Rather expected game when 12th ranked Maccabi Raanana (7-16) was defeated at home by tenth ranked Ironi Ashkelon (10-14) 94-80 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Ironi Ashkelon. Maccabi Raanana was better in second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ironi Ashkelon looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Marcus Moore (198-80, college: Washington St., agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 8 assists. Ahihad Bukra (204-88) helped adding 17 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American forward Eric Wise (198-90, college: USC) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and American-Puerto Rican Alex Franklin (196-88, college: Siena) produced a triple-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. Five Ironi Ashkelon and four Maccabi Raanana players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ironi Ashkelon moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Maccabi H/H. Newly promoted Maccabi Raanana keeps the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Ironi Ashkelon will face higher ranked Maccabi K/G (#3) in Kiryat Gat in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi Raanana will play on the road against Hapoel Kazrin (#6) and hope to win that game.
