Regular Season Round 23: Elitzur Yavne - Ramat Hasharon 87-96

An interesting game took place in Yavne where higher ranked Elitzur Yavne (11-12) was upset on its own court by thirteenth ranked Hasharon (7-16) 96-87. The guests were already 16 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 27-20 Elitzur Yavne's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 96-87 at the end of the game. Hasharon players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. American forward Lorenzo Gordon (201-83, college: Oklahoma City) orchestrated the victory by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Martin Samarco (190-85, college: Bowling Green) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. American guard Mark Tyndale (196-86, college: Temple) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Igor Mayor (198-93) added 21 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Elitzur Yavne. Five Elitzur Yavne players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hasharon moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Maccabi Raanana. Elitzur Yavne lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 12 games lost. Hasharon's next round opponent will be league's leader Ironi Kiryat Ata at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
