Fourteenth-ranked Elitzur Ramla (2-21) gave a tough game to third ranked Maccabi K/G (17-6) in Kiryat Gat on Tuesday. Maccabi K/G managed to secure only ten-point victory 103-93. However their fans expected much easier game. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi K/G. Elitzur Ramla managed to win second period 21-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Elitzur Ramla used huge pressure winning it 29-24 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 14-24. Maccabi K/G dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Elitzur Ramla's 48 and had 29 for 40 from the free-throw line, while Elitzur Ramla only scored twelve points from the stripe. Maccabi K/G forced 26 Elitzur Ramla turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward Terrence Watson (200-87, college: Ball St.) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 19 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. His fellow American import Travis Releford (198-90, college: Kansas, agency: Two Points) chipped in 29 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Billy White (203-89, college: San Diego St.) produced a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Tom Maayan (187-93, college: Seton Hall) added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Elitzur Ramla's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Maccabi K/G moved-up to second place, which they share with Hapoel Migd.H. Loser Elitzur Ramla stay dead last with 21 lost games. Maccabi K/G will meet Ironi Ashkelon (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Elitzur Ramla will play against Hapoel Kfar Saba (#11) and hope to secure a win.
